“We want to foster an entrepreneurial spirit throughout our building, and The Hangar is a big part of that,” says Shayna LaCroix, Operations Administrator at the Heartland Lakes Development Commission (HLDC). “The space is intended for entrepreneurs to network and learn from each other, while having a quiet place to focus.”

The Hangar also aligns with HLDC’s commitment to resource sharing and connection building. If LaCroix doesn’t know an answer, she will connect local business owners with someone who does.   

The Hangar Offers Amenities for Different Needs

Every business is unique, so the ideal workspace for entrepreneurs and business owners will change from one company to the next. The HLDC recognizes this, which is why it developed different work areas in The Hangar. A few types of office space options include:

• Two private rooms
• Four semi-private cubicle spaces
• A loveseat to curl up in  
• High-top chairs and a table 
• A large round table near the fireplace

“We invite people who need room to work to come find your perfect spot,” says LaCroix. “Once you have your day pass, there’s no pressure to leave or need to protect a table you reserved.”

Additional amenities include access to a printer, the conference room, and basic office supplies. The Hangar also hosts events where entrepreneurs can share ideas and resources, helping each other grow.

“I love that we have this option for entrepreneurial-minded people,” LaCroix adds. “It caters to a lot of demographics.”

Visitors to Hubbard County Are Welcome at the Hangar

Park Rapids, along with the greater Hubbard County, is a major tourism destination in Minnesota, and the HLDC is happy to welcome visitors staying for a week or traveling sales teams needing a reliable workspace for a few days.

“We often meet people who are staying in a cabin and need high-speed internet or want to step away from their families to quickly respond to work requests,” says LaCroix. “The Hangar allows them to work for a few hours without ruining their whole vacation.”  

Even people passing through town appreciate the comfort and reliability of this coworking space. They can catch up on tasks, print a few essential documents, and head back on the road. 

The Hangar Supports Small Businesses Across Park Rapids

While The Hangar can provide a space for anyone who needs coworking, the HLDC hopes it will inspire entrepreneurship and foster small-business growth. A startup founder who uses The Hangar when they’re just starting out might someday expand to a storefront on Main Street. They could reach a point where they hire employees, creating jobs for Hubbard County.

“I’m excited about my job because I get to be a connector and a conduit that turns big ideas into realities,” says LaCroix. “Getting people started with their new companies is such a cool thing to do.”
